Device Overview

Socket Controller is an IoT ‘smart switch’ with advanced features. It allows control of two socket outlets using a simple web interface.

ROADMAP:

Realistically funding device certification may be prohibitive (around $10,000 per region), so the source has been released.

In order to send out devices to end users, around ~150 units would need to be sold at around US$200 (with a 20% discount for early adopters), this would allow certification for the US and a batch run of manufacturing. If you are interested to buy a device, enter your email in the email signup, and you will be notified of the funding campaign.

Limited prototypes are available for testing (to persons competent in testing mains voltage electronics).

    Project genesis

Initially this project started looking into the available capabilities of Smart Switches…
Building the server as shown below showed the weakness of this early tech – relying on IFTTT messages via a PHP web server, using a proprietary connection to a Smart Switch, which was soon after made redundant…

    Manufacturing
